The Australian Government is inviting input on a new plantation forestry method for the Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF).
The ERF incentivises Australian businesses to cut greenhouse gases and undertake activities that store carbon.
A plantation forestry project reduces the carbon in the atmosphere by storing it in plantation or permanent forests.
The new method builds on the current plantation forestry method. It provides more opportunities for the plantation forestry industry through greater flexibility.
Current plantation forestry projects will be able to transfer to the new method. We are proposing to revoke the current plantation forestry method if the new plantation forestry method is made.
The new plantation forestry method is one of 5 priority methods being developed in 2021.
