Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a single vehicle crash in Wunghnu, a township north of Shepparton, this morning.
A passer-by discovered the crash scene about 5am.
Initial investigations indicate the grey utility was travelling west along Boundary Road when it veered off the roadway and crashed into a tree.
Sadly, the driver and sole occupant of the car, who is yet to be identified, died at the scene.
The time of the collision has not been determined.
Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
