Police Arrest Driver After Hitting Patrol Car At Hilton

A driver was arrested after allegedly ramming a patrol car at Hilton this afternoon.

The patrol car parked in front of a Ford sedan out the front of a South Road, Hilton business about 12.30pm on Monday 9 December.

Before officers could approach the occupants, the Ford sedan drove into the patrol car, causing minor damage to the front of the police vehicle.

The driver and passengers ran off, but the driver was quickly chased down by police.

A search of the Ford sedan allegedly revealed an axe, a firearm and items suspected of being drugs. These were seized by police for forensic examination.

The alleged driver, a 31-year-old man, was arrested and is expected to face numerous charges.

There were no injuries to the police officers, and no other vehicles or members of the public were involved.

The Ford sedan sustained moderate damage and will likely be towed from the scene.

Investigations are continuing.
