Police arrest driver after pursuit in southern suburbs, South Australia

A man has been arrested after police patrols used road spikes during a pursuit in Adelaide’s southern suburbs.

Just before 9am on Friday 20 March, a police patrol attempted to stop a blue Hyundai sedan on Sturt Road Warradale, but the male driver refused to stop and the car was followed through the back streets of Warradale, then on to Diagonal Road after driving through the Marion Shopping Centre car-park.

The blue Hyundai was pursued onto the Southern Expressway to Reynella where the car exited on Panalatinga Road.

Police patrols successfully used road spikes at Peach Street, puncturing the passenger’s side tyres, but the Hyundai sedan continued east on Reynell Road then back streets at Woodcroft.

The driver and only person in the vehicle, then dumped the car in Julia Crescent and ran off with police giving chase on foot.

Police dog patrols were called in to assist in the search with PD Havoc and Zeus at the ready.

A short time later the suspect, a 30-year-old man from Maslin Beach was located hiding in Victoria Ave.

He has been arrested for driving to evade police and driving unlicensed.

The Hyundai sedan was not reported stolen.

There was no damage to any police vehicles during the incident.
