Police arrest five teens after long pursuit

Maribyrnong Crime Investigation Unit detectives arrested five teens following a lengthy pursuit in Epping early this morning (Saturday 5 July).

Investigators first spotted a stolen car in Footscray at the intersection of Ballarat Road and Gordon Street about 3.20am.

Officers followed the stolen car from Footscray, through North Melbourne, Brunswick, Brunswick East, Fitzroy, Carlton North then on to Separation Street Northcote where the stolen car increased its speed to over 150km/h.

The police airwing took up a position and followed the vehicle through Preston, Coburg, Fawkner, Epping before the vehicle was disabled on Cooper Street Epping where the offenders attempted to flee the vehicle.

Two males and three female teen offenders were arrested at the scene.

A 15-year-old Brookfield boy has been charged with 7 offences, including theft, conduct endangering serious injuries, dangerous driving whilst pursued by police and traffic offences and has been remanded in custody to appear at a childrens court at a later date

A 13-year-old Melton South boy has been charged with 2 offences including theft and commit indictable offence whilst on bail and has been remanded in custody to appear at a childrens court at a later date.

A 14-year-old Caroline Springs girl has been charged with 2 offences, including theft and commit indictable offence whilst on bail.

She has been bailed to appear at a children’s court at a later date.

A 14-year-old Hillside girl has been released pending a caution for theft.

A 15-year-old Truganina girl has been charged with 2 offences, including theft and commit indictable offence whilst on bail.

She has been bailed to appear at a children’s court at a later date.
