Police arrest four after man assaulted and robbed in Prahran

Police have arrested four people after a man was seriously assaulted and robbed in Prahran on 4 August.

It’s believed a verbal altercation took place between several people on Chapel Street about 10.10pm.

A number of people allegedly punched and stomped on a 35-year-old man before stealing his mobile phone and fleeing on foot.

The man was located with serious facial injuries and transported to hospital where he remains.

Shortly after, responding police located three males and a woman on Peel Street and arrested them.

During the arrest the woman allegedly bit a female police officer and ripped her hair.

Luckily, the female officer was not physically injured during the incident.

The 19-year-old Fitzroy woman, 21-year-old Melton man and a 38-year-old Hampton man have been charged with affray, robbery and recklessly causing injury and drug charges.

All were remanded and appeared before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

A 16-year-old Coburg boy was released pending summons.

Police are investigating whether the parties involved in the incident are known to each other.
