Police arrest four teens in stolen car in Truganina

Police have arrested four teenagers following the theft of a car in Hampton early this morning.

Officers from Taskforce Alliance started to follow the BMW X5 following reports the car of interest was in Williams Landing shortly before 10am.

The car, which was allegedly stolen from the driveway of a home in Hampton early this morning, rammed a police car in Derrimut Road as it tried to get away.

The airwing then assisted police units on the ground as the car travelled into Tarneit.

Police were able to arrest one of the female occupants of the car when she was dropped off by the driver near Sayers Road.

Units continued to follow the car with the assistance of the Airwing, on Fitzgerald Road, the Princes Freeway towards the city and then onto Old Geelong Road and into Altona North.

Officers moved in on the vehicle when it drove into a retirement village carpark, in Taronga Road Truganina, and crashed into a parked car.

The vehicle then drove through the carpark but reached a dead end.

The three teens, including the 14-year-old driver, were arrested without incident.

A 16-year-old girl from Tarneit has been charged with theft of motor car and bailed to appear before a children’s court at a later date.

The two males, a 13-year-old from Frankston and a 14-year-old from Narre Warren, have been cautioned in relation to the incident.

The driver from Hampton has been charged with theft of motor vehicle and serious driving related offences.

It is expected she will appear before court for a remand hearing.

Wyndham Crime Investigation Unit detectives with assistance of Taskforce Alliance officers are investigating.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, the manner of driving of the vehicle or with dashcam is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
