Police arrest man after bus driver assaulted at Paralowie, South Australia

A man has been arrested after he allegedly struck a bus driver with a beer bottle at Paralowie earlier tonight.

Just after 6.30pm on Wednesday 27 May, Northern District patrols responded to a disturbance on board a bus on Burton Road.

On police arrival, they spoke with a bus driver who had a large lump over his left eye after allegedly being punched in the face by a male passenger, then struck above the eye with an empty ‘long neck’ beer bottle by the same man.

The alleged suspect was located on Burton Road, just next to where the bus had stopped. The 39-year-old man from Kent Town was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, he was conveyed to the Modbury Hospital for treatment to minor injuries from the incident. He has been bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court at a later date.

The bus driver, a man in his 60’s was treated at the scene by ambulance officers. Luckily the beer bottle didn’t smash on impact – which would have caused more significant injuries.
