Police arrest man after crash and failing to stop

About 7.30pm on Friday 10 November 2023, police attempted to stop a gold Nissan Pulsar sedan travelling on Burslem Drive Maddington.

Police activated their emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to stop the Nissan Pulsar but the driver did not stop, continuing along Burslem Drive before turning onto Albany Highway.

It will be alleged the driver of the Nissan Pulsar extinguished the vehicle’s headlights on the approach to Royal Street and Wanaping Road in Kenwick.

It will be further alleged as the driver of the Nissan Pulsar attempted to turn right into Wanaping Road, he collided with a Toyota Camry sedan.

The 22-year-old male driver of the Toyota Camry was conveyed to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment for injuries sustained in the crash.

The 18-year-old male driver of the Nissan Pulsar and a 17-year-old female passenger were taken into custody.

The 18-year-old man from Maddington has been charged with:

• Driver of a Vehicle Failed to Comply with a Direction to Stop (circumstance of aggravation);

• Reckless Driving to Escape Pursuit by Police;

• Dangerous Driving Causing Bodily Harm – in circumstances of aggravation;

• No Authority to Drive (never held); and

• Possess a Prohibited Drug (Cannabis).

He is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court (Northbridge) today, 11 November 2023.
