Police arrest man after domestic assault at Salisbury, South Australia

A man was arrested after a domestic disturbance at Salisbury overnight.

Police were called to the Salisbury home about 11.30pm on Tuesday 7 September by reports of a domestic assault.

When patrols arrived they found a man armed with a knife on the front lawn of the house.

A woman and child were able to safely leave the premises. The woman had sustained facial injuries during the assault. The child was unharmed.

The man returned inside and threatened self harm.

STAR Group officers attended and safely took the man into custody.

The 35-year-old Salisbury man was taken to the Lyell McEwin Hospital for a mental health assessment. Once back in police custody he will be charged with aggravated assault and breach of intervention order. He will face court at the earliest opportunity.

Police encourage anyone experiencing domestic violence to contact them immediately for assistance.
