Police arrest man after guns and meth found at Newton

Two guns and illegal drugs have been found during a search at Newton on Sunday.

It will be alleged that on Sunday 12 January, officers from the Serious and Organised Crime Branch searched the property and uncovered an unloaded pistol, a broken down shotgun, a silencer, ammunition, and about 250 grams of methamphetamine.

A 32-year-old man from Newton was arrested for trafficking a commercial quantity of a controlled drug, possess firearm without a licence, possess silencer and possess ammunition without a licence. He has been remanded in custody to appear on 17 January 2020 at the Adelaide Magistrates Court.

Detective Chief Inspector Tony Crameri of the Serious and Organised Crime Branch says, “Firearms, ammunition and silencers that are obtained illegally are a significant danger to the community. Police are very happy to have these two weapons taken off the streets. Police will continue to target criminals who sell methamphetamine which continues to cause significant harm to the community.
