Police arrest man after Mansfield crash

A 37-year-old man has handed himself into police following a crash in Mansfield yesterday (4 March).

Investigators understand a black Toyota LandCruiser towing a trailer with a bright green ski boat overtook a red Toyota LandCruiser towing a Scenic Galaxy caravan on Mansfield-Woods Point Road about 11.15am yesterday.

It’s believed the red LandCruiser then left the roadway and burst into flames.

The male driver of the car, a 73-year-old Weir Views man and his female passenger, a 71-year-old Weir Views woman received serious injuries and were air-lifted to hospital.

They remain in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The 37-year-old man from Wharparilla self-presented to police this morning, he is currently assisting with their enquiries.
