Police arrest man after pipe bomb explosions

Officers from the WA Police Arson Squad have charged a man as a result of their investigation into a series of pipe bomb explosions in the Perth metropolitan area.

It will be alleged in August 2023, the accused set off the explosions in the suburbs of Byford, Mount Nasura and Thornlie. Two of the explosions caused damage to a property.

The 27-year-old man from Serpentine has been charged with:

• Three counts of Causing Explosion Likely to do Serious Injury to Property; and

• One count of Fail to Obey Data Access Order.

He is due to appear before the Armadale Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 24 October 2023.

The offence of Causing Explosion likely to do Serious Injury to Property carries a maximum penalty of 20 years’ imprisonment.
