Police arrest man after police vehicle rammed in Mooroopna

Police have arrested a man after he allegedly rammed a police vehicle and failed to stop for officers in Mooroopna this morning.

Officers were initially called to reports of a suspicious vehicle on Knight Street about 6.05am.

Attending police observed a man sleeping in a silver Holden Commodore while the engine was running.

Police attempted to speak with the driver, but he became verbally aggressive towards officers and allegedly refused to comply with their directions.

The man allegedly reversed and rammed a police vehicle several times before taking off towards Echuca Road.

Another police unit followed the vehicle which allegedly swerved and mounted a kerb before crashing into a parked car on Knight Street.

Officers deployed OC spray and arrested a 26-year-old man, before locating two firearms, drugs and cash inside the vehicle.

The man is currently assisting Shepparton detectives with their enquires.

No one was injured during the incident.
