Police arrest man after robbery at Southern Cross Railway Station

Transit Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested a man following an assault and robbery at Southern Cross Railway Station last month.

Detectives arrested a 32-year-old man yesterday and charged him with one count of robbery.

He was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court on 6 November.

Detectives are still appealing for information about a second man involved in the robbery and appeal for him to come forward.

The second offender was described as being approximately 25-35 years old and of Middle Eastern appearance.

The victim, a 30-year-old Melbourne man, was assaulted and had his headphones stolen during the incident on 26 June.

Transit Crime Investigation Unit Detective Sergeant Randeep Atwal reminded people that the Public Transport System is extensively covered with CCTV cameras.

“If you travel on buses, trams and trains and commit crime, be aware that you will be identified and subsequently prosecuted.
