Police arrest man after short pursuit at Prospect, South Australia

A man has been arrested following a short pursuit that ended with the suspect allegedly reversing into a police car.

Just after 9.30pm on Thursday 4 July, a plain clothes police patrol attempted to stop a white Toyota Accent on Churchill Road at Prospect, but the male driver refused to stop.

The Toyota was followed for a short distance before the it drove down Jack Johnson Court at Renown Park which is a dead end street.

The suspect has then reversed the rental car into the police car, in an effort to escape, but he was quickly restrained and arrested.

The 45-year-old man has been arrested and expected to be charged with driving to evade police and possible drug charges after the police recovered a bag the suspect allegedly threw from the vehicle, which is believed to be contain a quantity of illicit drugs.

The arrested man will be refused police bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday 5 July.

There were no injuries from the incident and only slight damage to the unmarked police vehicle which was driven from the scene.
