Police arrest man following fatal stabbing in North Parramatta

A man has been arrested after another man was fatally stabbed in Sydney’s west last night.

About 8:50pm (Thursday 28 February 2019), emergency services were called to Gladstone Street, North Parramatta, following reports of two men fighting.

On arrival, police located a 45-year-old man in the driveway of a unit block suffering stab wounds to his back and neck.

Officers from Parramatta Police Area Command attempted to revive the man; however, when NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

About 10pm, police attempted to speak to a 35-year-old man inside a unit on the same street.

It’s alleged the man refused to exit and a perimeter was established.

Following negotiations, just after 2.30am today (Friday 1 March 2019), the man was arrested without incident.

He has since been taken to Westmead Hospital under police guard for treatment to an injury sustained prior to police arrival.

Local detectives, with assistance from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and would like to speak with any witnesses or anyone who may have information that could assist.
