Police arrest man with drugs and a firearm in Dandenong

Police have arrested a man in Dandenong after he was located in possession of a firearm and drugs earlier today.

Police attended an address on Market Street about 5am after receiving reports that a man who did not reside at the address was allegedly loitering at the property.

When police arrived at the address, the man tried to flee before being arrested.

Police conducted a search of the man’s vehicle where they seized a sawn-off shotgun, ammunition, a commercial quantity of methylamphetamine, a number of other drugs of dependence and $4,500 in cash.

The 34-year-old man was taken back to a police station where he was interviewed and charged with multiple firearms offences and drug-related offences.

He has been remanded to appear at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court at a later date.

This arrest is part of Operation Tidal which utilises a highly visible police presence across the Casey, Greater Dandenong and Cardinia Police Service Areas (PSAs).

Tidal is an ongoing operation and police will continue to focus resources where they’re most needed.
