Police arrest pair after Melton pursuit 20 October

Two men have been arrested after they were caught in an alleged stolen vehicle in Melton this morning.

Officers were patrolling in the vicinity of Clarks Road, Brookfield, when they spotted the white Skoda travelling at an alleged speed of 131km/h in a 60km/h zone about 4am.

The driver of the vehicle, a 23-year-old Armstrong Creek man, failed to stop when police attempted to intercept the vehicle.

Police pursued the vehicle and deployed stop sticks before the vehicle came to a stop a short time later in Melton South.

The driver fled on foot but was arrested nearby.

The 30-year-old male passenger from Melton fled and located hiding in a nearby paddock by the police Canine unit.

Both men remain in custody and the investigation is ongoing.

The Skoda was allegedly stolen from an address in Golden Square on 9 October.
