Police arrest teen at airport for COVID breach, South Australia

A teenager was arrested at Adelaide Airport yesterday afternoon for breaching COVID directions and disorderly behaviour.

The South Australian resident had arrived on a flight from New South Wales, via Victoria, about 1pm on Wednesday 5 August.

His non-essential travel application had been approved to travel from New South Wales, not Victoria, and while police were clarifying his status, he allegedly became abusive and refused to comply with the direction to wear a mask.

The 17-year-old Christies Beach was arrested and charged with breaching COVID-19 directions and disorderly behaviour. He was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Youth Court on 2 September and directed into hotel quarantine for 14 days.
