Police arrest teens after CBD robbery

Police have charged two teens following a robbery in Melbourne’s CBD on the weekend.

Two 16-year-old Pakenham teens have been charged in relation to an alleged robbery that occurred about 6.20am in City Road on Saturday morning (9 March).

Both teens have been charged with two counts of robbery, theft, assault and commit indictable offences whilst on bail.

The will appear at a children’s court at a later date.

The investigation continues into another three robberies which occurred in Melbourne’s CBD over the weekend.

Police are still searching for three outstanding offenders who are all perceived to be African in appearance.

In the first incident, five unknown male offenders approached a victim, demanding he hand over his phone and wallet on Swanston Street about 8.45pm on Friday,

The victim was uninjured and the offenders fled on foot empty-handed.

In the second incident, a group of offenders stole tobacco and attempted to steal a mobile phone from two victims in Banana Alley about 12.15am Saturday.

The offenders fled and were chased by the victims.

Realising they were being chased, the offenders stopped and confronted the victims before assaulting them.

The victims received non-life threatening injuries and were taken to hospital.

In the third incident, a robbery occurred on Queen Street about 3.55am.

Two women were assaulted and had a speaker and tobacco stolen by a group of six male offenders.

One woman was sexually assaulted and the other woman was punched to the face before the offenders fled.

The women were not physically injured.
