Police arrest two after evading police

Two men have been arrested following a pursuit in the northern suburbs overnight.

Police received calls from the public about a Nissan Navara ute with a blown tyre and sparking rim on the Eastern Freeway about 4.10am.

Officers patrolled the area and located the vehicle on the Greensborough Road travelling at about 30-40km/h.

Police observed the ute at a distance and saw it crossing onto the wrong side of the road near Simpson Barracks.

Officers attempted to intercept the vehicle but the driver refused to pull over.

The ute was followed on to the Western Ring Road and it’s alleged the driver hit a number of police cars.

The Nissan exited at Edgars Road and attempted to get back onto the Ring Road by going the wrong way down an off ramp.

Police managed to stop the allegedly stolen ute and arrested the male driver and passenger.

They are currently assisting police with their enquires.
