Police arrest two after shots fired in Delacombe armed robbery

Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad have arrested two men and are continuing to search for a third following an armed robbery in Delacombe on 31 January.

It’s alleged two teenage boys were in the Doug Dean Recreational Reserve, Greenhalghs Road about 7am when a light-coloured sedan approached them with three men inside.

One of the men made a demand for the victims’ personal belongings and a firearm was produced.

The victims have handed over several items before running from the scene.

It’s believed several shots were then discharged from the firearm, however the victims were not struck.

Police located and arrested a 25-year-old Black Hill man on 3 February about 2.15pm in Delacombe without incident.

He has been charged with armed robbery and drug related offences and was remanded to appear at Ballarat Magistrates’ Court on 4 February.

Yesterday officers arrested a second 29-year-old Clunes man in Bakery Hill about 5.30pm and allegedly located a firearm in his vehicle.

He has been charged with armed robbery, robbery, prohibited person possess firearm and related offences.

He has been remanded to appear before Ballarat Magistrates’ Court today.

Police are continuing to search for a third man who they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries in relation to the incident.

He is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance with an olive complexion and aged in his early 20s.
