Police arrest two in stolen car – Plympton, South Australia

Two men have been arrested after the stolen car they were travelling in ran out of petrol at Plympton this morning.

Just after 5am on Tuesday 30 July, a police patrol spotted a Holden Commodore wagon at Cross Road and Marion Road at South Plympton, a check on the car revealed the car was reported stolen from Woodville South.

The driver, attempted to speed away from the patrol on Anzac Highway, but the stolen car quickly came to a spluttering stop just past Marion Road, when it ran out of petrol.

The driver remained with the vehicle, but the passenger made a run for it, running east on Anzac Highway down a Lincoln Avenue.

Patrols cordoned off the street and called in PD Jax and his handler. ( His Police Officer handler was driving the police car)

Jax made short work of the search by quickly tracking the male passenger to the front yard of a house.

The passenger, a 29-year-old man from Kidman Park has been arrested and charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle and going equipped to commit an offence, after he was found on possession of a mask.

The driver a 27-year-old man from Edwardstown has been arrested and charged with illegal use and driving while disqualified.

Both men are expected to be bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court at later date.
