Police arrest two men after burglary and police vehicle ramming

Two men have been arrested after a burglary and police vehicle ramming in Melbourne’s south east this morning.

Rowville police responded to earlier reports of a burglary at a commercial premises in Dandenong South just after 3am.

Upon arrival, the offending vehicle, a Toyota Hiace van, was allegedly rammed into the police divisional van on Langley Street.

A short scuffle has occurred between the two male offenders and two police officers, before the offenders fled in the Hiace van.

The Hiace van has then collided into a Audi A3 vehicle on Alma Road, just west of Hotham Street, in St Kilda East, just before 7am.

The offending driver, a 28-year-old Dandenong man, sustained serious injuries while his passenger, a 32-year-old Mornington man, sustained minor injuries.

Both men remained trapped inside the van before being extricated and transported to hospital where they remain under hospital guard.

The driver of the Audi, a 26-year-old Balwyn man, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
