Police arrest two men at Valley View, South Australia

Two men have been arrested in a stolen car at Valley View last night.

About 10.45pm, Monday 7 July, patrols saw maroon Holden Statesman travelling at high speed on John Rice Avenue, Elizabeth Vale. Patrols didn’t pursuit the car but called Polair into assist.

Checks reveled the car had been stolen from Salisbury East in late June.

Polair started tracking the car on Main North Road, Salisbury Heights and followed it from above before the car pulled into a driveway at Valley View. Patrols stopped behind the car where three men got out. As the patrols approached the men two of them jumped back in the car and reversed into the police car before driving forward hitting two fences. The driver then reversed toward the patrols officers forcing them to move out of the way.

The commodore sped off, Polair continued to track it from above before it stopped on Settlers Hill Road, Golden Grove. A passenger was arrested at the scene and the driver ran from the car and was arrested a short distance away.

The driver a man aged 23 from Craigmore was charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle, engage in police pursuit, acts to endanger, drive disqualified, aggravated due care and unlawful possession.

The passenger a man aged 28 from North Haven was charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle.

The driver was refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court later today. The passenger was bailed to appear in court at a later date.
