Police arrest two men in stolen vehicle in Wantirna South

Two men have been arrested in a stolen vehicle in Wantirna South this afternoon.

Officers located a stolen Ford Ranger utility in a shopping centre carpark, believed to have been stolen in an aggravated burglary in Belmont on 12 January between midnight and 6am.

The driver of the Ford rammed a police vehicle and a parked car before driving away on Burwood Highway about 11.20am.

Stop sticks were successfully deployed on a nearby street, deflating both passenger side tyres.

The Ford continued to drive erratically on its rims along Kent Avenue, losing its toolboxes from the rear as it drove on the wrong side of Maroondah Hwy.

Police arrested the driver on Binbrook Drive, Croydon at about 12.20pm and his passenger shortly after near the corner of Foundation Drive, Plymouth Road.

A 20-year-old Dandenong man and a 27-year-old Belmont man are currently assisting police with their enquiries.
