Two people were arrested in Ceduna on Friday night after an alleged crime spree that started in Victoria.
It will be alleged the two suspects travelling to South Australia from Victoria in a stolen MG on 29 June.
On 1 July, the MG was involved in a petrol drive-off at Paralowie, while displaying stolen plates. It then travelled to Whyalla Stuart where arrangements were made to trade it for another vehicle on 2 July. However, when the suspects took the Nissan Tiida for a test drive, they didn’t return, leaving the victim in possession of the stolen Victorian MG.
Later that afternoon, about 3.40pm on 2 July, a white Toyota Landcruiser was stolen from Iron Knob and was seen driving away with the Nissan Tiida.
Then later that evening on 2 July, a red Holden Berlina was stolen from Minnipa.
At Poochera, the red Berlina was captured on CCTV while the suspects smashed the windows of and ransacked two vehicles at a roadhouse.
The red Holden Berlina and Nissan Tiida were found burnt out, and a white Toyota Hilux was reported stolen from the area.
About 9am on 3 July, the Hilux broke down on the Flinders Highway, Mortana.
When a motorist stopped to provide assistance, his vehicle was stolen and driven to Ceduna.
The vehicle was tracked by police and located by patrols at a Ceduna Caltex.
The suspects were located near the Ceduna Foreshore and arrested in the evening of Friday 3 July.
A 36-year-old man from Moe, Victoria, and a 44-year-old woman were charged with multiple counts of illegal interference and illegal use, theft, arson and deception.
They were refused police bail and will appear in the Ceduna Magistrates Court today, Monday 6 July.
