The new members bring diverse expertise and lived experience across caring roles, advocacy, health, disability and community services.

Ms Clark has been appointed Chair, succeeding Esme Bowen after more than a decade of dedicated service.

An existing Council member and former CEO of Kiind, Ms Clark brings extensive experience in community development, alongside lived experience of disability.

Outgoing Chair Esme Bowen has provided dedicated leadership to the Council since 2015, helping inform government decision-making on issues affecting carers.

The Cook Government thanks Ms Bowen, and all outgoing members, for their valuable contributions and commitment to supporting carers in Western Australia.

As stated by Community Services Minister Matthew Swinbourn:

“The WA Carers Advisory Council is an important voice in the sector, so having such strong advocates joining the Council is very pleasing.

“I would like to congratulate Carrie Clark on her appointment to the role of Chair.

“Esme Bowen has done an incredible job for over a decade in the role, and I thank her sincerely for her contributions to the Council.

“I look forward to welcoming the new members to the Council. I’m confident they will provide strong and effective representation for the 320,000 carers in Western Australia.”
