Police arrest woman after pursuit at Smithfield, South Australia

One person was arrested after a police pursuit in a stolen car at Smithfield overnight.

A patrol spotted the stolen Ford Ranger ute on Morialta Drive, Smithfield about 10.40pm on Tuesday 21 April and tried to pull it over. The driver refused and was pursued through the backstreets of Smithfield.

Two of the car’s tyres were successfully spiked on Peterswool Road, Elizabeth North.

The man and woman abandoned the car and tried to make a run for it on Ranger Street.

A woman was immediately apprehended and police cordoned off the area, looking for the male suspect.

The 41-year-old Andrews Farm woman was arrested and charged with illegal use. She has been bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on 29 July.

The male occupant of the vehicle has not been located and inquiries are continuing.

The Ford Ranger had been stolen from a dealership overnight on Sunday night. It has been seized by police for forensic examination.
