Police assaulted and man tasered, South Australia

A man has been charged after allegedly assaulting two police officers at Mitchell Park last night.

At 11.10pm Saturday 4 September police were called to a Hotel on Marion Road after reports of an assault. When police arrived witnesses directed them to a man in the carpark. When police approached and spoke to the man he allegedly became aggressive and did not comply with their requests.

As the officers attempted to place the man under arrested he allegedly resisted violently biting the female officer on the leg. Police tasered the man and eventually were able to place him under arrest. The male police officer sustained an injured wrist.

The 18-year-old Morphett Vale man was taken to the Flinders Medical Centre as a precaution before being charged with assault and two counts of assault prescribed emergency worker. He was refused bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on Monday.

Both officers were taken to the Wakefield Hospital for treatment.
