Police charge driver with serious traffic offences in Hinchinbrook

A man has been charged after an alleged road rage incident in Hinchinbrook last night.

About 9pm (Thursday 11 June 2020), emergency services were called to Collarenebri Road, Hinchinbrook, following reports a pedestrian had been struck following an alleged road rage incident.

Officers from Liverpool City Police Area Command were called and commenced inquires.

Police have been told, a Honda Accord and a Toyota Corolla were allegedly seen speeding along Cowpasture Road. When they stopped at traffic lights the two drivers have become involved in a verbal argument.

The Toyota driver, a 31-year-old man, got out and approached the Honda Accord. The Honda driver, an 18-year-old man, has allegedly accelerated and hit the man, pinning him between the two cars.

The older man sustained a fractured leg and was taken by paramedical to Liverpool Hospital for treatment.

The younger man was arrested and taken to Liverpool Police Station.

He was charged with drive furiously in a motor vehicle and causing bodily harm, negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, fail to exchange particulars, fail to stop and assist after causing grievous bodily harm and not give particulars to injured person.

The man was refused bail and will appear at Liverpool Local Court today.
