Police charge man after 2021 Horsham fatal collision

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man after two woman died following a collision in Horsham last year.

The 53-year-old man has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing death and three counts of dangerous driving causing serious injury.

The charges follow a three-vehicle collision on Stawell Road, near the intersection of Williams Road, on 8 October 2021 about 2.40pm.

It’s alleged a cement truck was travelling north when it collided into a white Hyundai SUV which in turn collided with a red Holden utility.

A 79-year-old woman who was travelling in the Hyundai died at the scene. A 78-year-old woman, who was also travelling in the Hyundai, was taken to hospital however died a few days later.

Two other women from the Hyundai and the female driver of the Holden were also taken to hospital at the time with serious injuries.

The Horsham man has been bailed to appear before Horsham Magistrates’ Court today.
