Police charge man after armed robbery and traffic crash

Regional Investigations Unit detectives have charged a man after two incidents today, 26 January 2020.

It is alleged around 10.05am, the man entered a liquor store located on Lefroy Road in Beaconsfield holding what looked to be a rifle by his side. It is further alleged the man stole a bottle of alcohol before fleeing the area in a

Subaru sedan.

As detectives were investigating the above incident they were notified a Subaru sedan similar to the one seen at the Beaconsfield incident was involved in a crash on Shoalwater Street near Lancelin Way in North Coogee.

Around 11.45am, a Subaru sedan was seen driving erratically before the Subaru struck four parked cars.

Police arrived at the crash scene and identified it was the same man and vehicle used in the alleged Beaconsfield armed robbery.

During a search of the Subaru, police located and seized a ‘gel’ gun used in the Beaconsfield incident and a knife.

The man was conveyed to Fiona Stanley Hospital for treatment of injuries received in the crash.

The 34-year-old man from Willagee will appear in court at a later date charged with:-

• Armed Robbery;

• Reckless Driving; and

• Driver Fail to Stop (Property Damage).
