Police charge man after Bendigo Pursuit

Bendigo Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following a string of alleged offences in the Bendigo area.

The offences include burglaries, thefts of electronics, keys, number plates and petrol allegedly committed between 29 September and 5 November.

The 36-year-old man and his passenger were arrested in an allegedly stolen car following a lengthy pursuit on Thursday 5 Nov.

Both the driver and his passenger, a 35-year-old woman from Golden Square, were taken to hospital when the car they were in crashed into a tree about 12.30pm.

The Kennington man has since been discharged from hospital and charged with 35 offences, including four counts of aggravated intentional exposure of emergency worker to risk by driving, aggravated burglary, theft, theft of motor vehicle, dangerous driving whilst pursued by police, unlicensed driving, reckless conduct endangering serious injury, assault emergency worker and others.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear before the Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on 9 November for a filing hearing.

The passenger remains in hospital under police guard.
