Police charge man after carjackings in Geelong

Police have charged a 31-year-old man following two carjacking’s in Geelong yesterday morning.

It is alleged a man threatened a female driver with a bottle on Moorabool Street about 7am and stole her black Holden Commodore.

At approximately 7.30am in North Geelong, the vehicle was involved in a collision with a pedestrian. The pedestrian suffered minor injuries.

The vehicle was then dumped in Wilsons Road, Newcomb.

It is believed the second carjacking occurred on the Bellarine Highway in Newcomb just before 8am.

A woman aged in her 30s was allegedly threatened with a screw driver and assaulted before her blue Mazda hatch was stolen.

A Norlane man was arrested at the North Geelong train station car park about 8.30am.

He has been charged with two counts of aggravated carjacking, two counts of theft of motor vehicle, recklessly cause injury, conduct endangering person and unlicensed driving.

He is expected to appear at Geelong Magistrates’ Court this morning.
