Police charge man after fatal pedestrian crash at Nowra

A man has been charged following a fatal pedestrian crash on the state’s south coast.

About 2.50pm on Wednesday (14 June 2023), emergency services were called to intersection of Worrigee Street and Nowra Lane, Nowra, following reports a woman had been struck by a car.

Officers attached to South Coast Police District and Far South Sector Highway Patrol attended the scene and located the injured woman.

The 88-year-old was treated by NSW ambulance paramedics before being taken to Shoalhaven District Hospital, where she died earlier today (15 June 2023).

The driver of the vehicle – a 23-year-old man – was uninjured.

About 10.30am today, the driver was arrested in Falls Creek and taken to Nowra Police Station where he was charged with dangerous drive occasioning death and negligent drive occasioning death.

He was granted conditional bail to appear Nowra local court on Tuesday 27th June 2023.
