Police charge man after police officer kicked in face in Hornsby

A man has now been charged after he allegedly kicked a police officer in the face at Hornsby this morning.

About 2.30am (Saturday 19 October 2019), officers from Kuring-Gai Police Area Command became suspicious of the behaviour of a man and woman near the train station and stopped them in Hornsby Mall.

Police will allege when the man was advised he was going to be searched, a scuffle broke out during which the senior constable was kicked in the face.

The 34-year-old officer was taken to Hornsby Hospital where he was treated for a broken nose and facial lacerations. He has since been released.

A 19-year-old Asquith man was arrested at the scene and taken to Hornsby Police Station where he has now been charged with assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm and resist officer in execution of duty.

He was refused bail and will appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 19 October 2019).
