Police charge man after pursuit in Ashcroft – TF Magnus

Task Force Magnus detectives have charged a man over an alleged breach of an apprehended domestic violence order after a pursuit in Sydney’s south-west.

About 11am on Tuesday (5 December 2023), detectives from Liverpool Proactive Crime Team and Task Force Magnus were patrolling areas surrounding Hoxton Park Road, Liverpool, before they located a red Holden sedan along with a 26-year-old man – known to police for an outstanding warrant involving breach of apprehended domestic violence order.

Police attempted to stop the man however, he allegedly entered an address on Murphy Avenue, Liverpool, and stole a grey Subaru sedan before fleeing the scene.

When the vehicle failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated with the assistance of PolAir.

The pursuit continued onto Elizabeth Street, before the vehicle stopped on Sinclair Road, Ashcroft.

Following extensive inquiries with assistance from the Police Dog Unit and Proactive Crime Team within Liverpool City Police Area Command, the 26-year-old man was arrested at an address on Sinclair Road, Ashcroft.

He was taken to Liverpool Police Station where he was charged with following offences:

  • Break & Enter house etc steal value less than or equal to $60,000
  • Take & drive conveyance without consent of owner
  • Police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously
  • Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous
  • Not give particulars to other driver
  • Learner not accompanied by driver/police officer/tester
  • Contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO

He was refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday 10 January 2024.
