Police charge man after pursuit in Sydney’s south-west

A man has been charged after a pursuit in Sydney’s south-west yesterday.

Just before 7pm (Friday 5 May 2023), officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command attempted to stop a car on Marion Street, Georges Hall, in relation to the manner of driving.

When the vehicle allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.

The car came to a stop when it crashed into parked camper-trailer outside a home on Ashcroft Street, Georges Hall.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the driver – a 21-year-old man – at the scene, before taking him to hospital for observation.

No one else was injured.

About 10.30am today (Saturday 6 May 2023), the man was released from hospital and taken to Bankstown Police Station where he was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, not comply P1/P2 high performance vehicle restriction and not comply P1 licence-no P plates (class C).

He was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court tomorrow (Sunday 7 May 2023).
