A man has been charged after a pedestrian was allegedly hit by a car in Sydney’s northwest yesterday.
About 5.30pm (Monday 3 August 2026), emergency services responded to reports of a crash on Stanhope Parkway, The Ponds, near Conrad Road.
Officers attached to Riverstone Police Area Command attended and were told a Mazda sedan had allegedly struck a pedestrian.
The pedestrian – a 70-year-old woman – was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital in a critical condition.
The driver of the car – a 37-year-old man – was uninjured and was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
A crime scene was established and examined by officers from the Crash Investigation Unit.
The 37-year-old man was later taken to Riverstone Police Station, and following inquiries, was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – drive manner dangerous, negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm) and not keep left of median strip – motor vehicle.
His licence was also suspended.
The man was granted conditional bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court on Tuesday 25 August 2026.
