Hobsons Bay Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a 32-year-old man following a fire in Spotswood in May.
Emergency services were called to reports of a factory fire on Hudsons Road just after 2.30am on 26 May.
There were no injuries however numerous people from neighbouring premises were evacuated as a precaution.
The building sustained significant damage during the blaze.
This morning detectives served charges on the 32-year-old man in relation to the fire including.
- criminal damage by fire (arson)
- reckless conduct endanger life
- commit indictable offence whilst on bail
- contravene condition of bail
- drive whilst disqualified
Further charges have also been laid in relation to an incident where shots were allegedly fired into an Altona North business on 12 May.
The new charges include:
- possess firearm when firearm prohibition order applies (x2)
- possess traffickable quantity of firearms (2 or more)
- reckless conduct endanger life
- possess drug of dependence
- going equipped to steal
- handle stolen goods
He is currently remanded in custody, expected to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 16 October.
