Police charge man after woman, child stabbed in North Parramatta

A man will appear in court today charged after a woman and her son were allegedly stabbed during a domestic-violence incident in Sydney’s west.

About 12.10am yesterday (Saturday 25 April 2020), emergency services were called to a unit on Belmore Street, North Parramatta, and found a 27-year-old woman and six-year-old boy suffering stab wounds.

They were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital.

Officers from Parramatta Police Area Command established a crime scene while the surrounding area was searched, with assistance from PolAir and the Dog Unit.

About 2am, a 31-year-old man was arrested when he presented to Parramatta Police Station.

He was taken to Blacktown Hospital for assessment before being released about 4.30pm.

He was taken to Parramatta Police Station where he was charged with two counts of wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder, and two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The man has been refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court later today (Sunday 26 April 2020).

Police have been told the woman has had surgery for internal injuries; both remain in hospital in a stable condition.
