Police charge man and woman after Mildura burglaries

After a two week joint Victoria Police and New South Wales Police investigation, Mildura Crime Investigation Unit detectives charged a man and woman following a spate of burglaries, car and firearm thefts in and around the Mildura region over the past month.

The pair was arrested yesterday about midday at a golf course on Park Lane, Nichols Point, just outside of Mildura.

The 28-year-old man and 22-year-old woman were charged with 42 offences including arson, theft of motor vehicle, theft from motor vehicle, burglary, possessing firearms, driving offences and trafficking methamphetamine.

They Mildura pair were remanded in custody to appear at Mildura Magistrates Court on tomorrow (Monday 20 May).

Mildura Superintendent John O’Connor said this is a significant arrest as the offending was escalating and was posing a threat to the community safety in Mildura and across the border in Gol Gol.

“We have recovered a lot of stolen property and importantly recovered all the firearms that were stolen by the offenders,” he said.
