Police charge man and woman after shooting at Guildford

A man and woman have been charged following a public place shooting in Sydney’s west last month.

About 9.35pm on Monday 27 November 2023, police were called to Bligh Street, Guildford, after reports of a shooting.

On arrival, officers located a bullet hole at the front gate of a property, although no one was injured.

Officers from Cumberland Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident under Strike Force Gelding.

A 29-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and taken to Granville Police Station; however, she was released pending further inquiries.

Following inquiries, around 9.30am yesterday (Wednesday 6 December 2023), the 29-year-old woman was arrested during a vehicle stop on Thorton Avenue, Bass Hill.

She was taken to Bankstown Police Station where she was charged with two counts of possess unauthorised pistol and hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty.

Around 11.30am that same day, officers from the Tactical Operations Unit and Raptor Squad arrested a 30-year-old man at Ann Thorn Park, Ryde.

He was taken to Gladesville Police Station and charged with three counts of supply unregistered firearm/pistol, acquire pistol subject to firearms prohibition order, and discharge firearm intend cause grievous bodily harm (domestic violence).

Both were refused bail with to appear before local courts today (Thursday 7 December 2023); the woman at Bankstown and the man at Burwood.
