Police charge man over assault of woman – Central North

A man has been charged over the alleged assault of a woman in the state’s central north yesterday.

About 11.45am (Saturday 18 February 2023), police have been told a 25-year-old man entered the front yard of a home on Cuthundril Street, Nyngan.

When the man was asked to leave by the occupant of the home, he allegedly became aggressive and punched a 54-year-old woman in the face, causing her to fall to the ground.

The man allegedly continued to punch and kick the woman before leaving the location.

The woman was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for facial injuries.

Officers attached to Central North Police District were notified and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries, a 25-year-old man was arrested at a home on Wambiana Street, Nyngan, about 4.45pm the same day.

He was taken to Nyngan Police Station where he was charged with grievous bodily harm by unlawful act, assault police officer in execution of duty and intimidate police officer in execution of duty.

He was refused bail to appear before Dubbo Local Court today (Sunday 19 February 2023).
