A man has been charged over a crash that left a teenage girl seriously injured in Sydney’s south earlier this month.
Emergency services were called to the Princes Highway, Blakehurst, following reports of a multiple vehicle crash, just after 11.10pm on Saturday 5 September 2020.
The 24-year-old was driving his Mercedes A45 AMG near the Tom Uglys Bridge when he allegedly veered onto the wrong side of the road and his car collided with a Toyota Corolla.
This allegedly caused two other vehicles to be hit, a Mitsubishi SUV and a Land Rover SUV.
The Toyota driver, a 17-year-old girl, was trapped in the vehicle for a period of time before being released.
She suffered leg and internal injuries and was taken to St George Hospital, where she remains in a serious but stable condition.
The 24-year-old man, his passenger, and the drivers of both SUVs were uninjured.
Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit commenced an investigation with assistance from St George Police Area Command.
Following extensive inquiries, officers arrested the 24-year-old at Campsie Police Station about 4pm today (Tuesday 22 September 2020).
He charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – drive manner dangerous, and negligent driving (occasioning grievous bodily harm). His licence was also suspended.
The man was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear in Burwood Local Court on Tuesday 20 October 2020.
