Police charge man over neighbour dispute stabbing in Maroubra

A man will appear in court today charged over an alleged stabbing in Sydney’s east.

Just before 9am yesterday (Thursday 5 November 2020), emergency services were called to a unit block on Royal Street, Maroubra, after reports of a neighbour dispute.

Police will allege in court that two men – aged 19 and 35 – were involved in a fight, before the younger man was stabbed in the back.

He was treated at the scene and taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a stable condition.

The older man was arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station, before being taken to hospital for treatment of a minor facial injury.

Officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Upon release from hospital, the older man was taken back to the station and charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He was refused bail to appear before Waverley Local Court today (Friday 6 November 2020).
