Police charge man over stabbing at Randwick

Police have charged a man over an alleged domestic violence related stabbing in Randwick yesterday.

Emergency services were called to Roberts Avenue at Randwick about 4.30pm (Wednesday 31 January 2023) following reports of a stabbing.

Officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command attended and found a woman with stab wounds to her head and upper body.

The 47-year-old woman was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital where she remains in a serious but stable condition.

Police have been told the woman was involved in an argument with a man known to her before he allegedly stabbed her several times with a paint scrapper.

The 21-year-old man was apprehended by members of the public on Frenchman’s Road shortly after the incident.

He was taken to Prince of Wales Hospital under police guard for assessment before being taken to Maroubra Police Station.

Police established several crime scenes around the area as a part of the investigation into the incident.

The man has been charged with wound person intend to cause grievous bodily harm DV.

He was refused bail to appear before Waverley Local Court today (Thursday 1 February 2024).
