Police charge man with acts intended to cause GBH at Bargara

A 20-year-old man has been charged in relation to the alleged serious assault of a 16-year-old boy at Bargara on Friday night (September 16).

Police were called to a park on Bauer Street near the Esplanade at approximately 8.10pm, to reports of a disturbance.

It will be alleged an altercation had occurred between the teenager and a man, during which time the boy was allegedly slashed with a broken bottle.

The 16-year-old Bundaberg North boy was transported to Bundaberg Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A 20-year-old Walkervale man, known to the teen, was taken into custody at the scene.

He has been charged with one count each of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and stealing.

His police bail was refused and he is expected to appear before Bundaberg Magistrates Court today, September 19.
